Project Manager for Satellite-based Quantum Cryptography (f/m/d)

The Chair of Optical Quantum Technologies is looking for a Project Manager for a major project by the European Space Agency in the field of satellite-based quantum cryptography. The project offers a unique opportunity to get experience at the forefront of research & development together with top research institutions and major industry.

Das Aufgabengebiet umfasst

  • organize, prepare and attend project management meetings (online and in person) including preparation of the required data, project documents and presentations
  • ensure smooth communication flow between all parties involved, especially prime contractor, subcontractors and our technical team of scientists
  • maintain schedule, specifically identifying and prioritizing tasks together with technical team; tracking technical status; identify scheduling/organizational issues and work out solutions with the scientific staff
  • work on project documents according to official project specifications (specified document numbers, templates, etc.), specifically obtaining inputs from the scientists and bringing them into the required form; other document work like updating versions of reference documents or gathering signatures
  • being an interface between technical team and the various clouds and platforms used for document exchange, action item tracking, technical requirements tracking tool; organizing the internal share
  • procurement of laboratory equipment based on the legal and procedural rules and tender modalities in collaboration with the FAU-internal procurement office and the technical team

Qualifikationen

Notwendige Qualifikationen:

You have an academic degree (e.g. MSc. or BSc.), ideally in a natural science or engineering discipline.

You are

  • reliable
  • interested in technology, physics and IT
  • flexible and able to react quickly to new requirements
  • able to take a structured and efficient approach to planning and organizing, both for own tasks and those of the team
  • able to professionally represent the project group
  • able to communicate in excellent English, both spoken and written
  • well trained in Microsoft Office Suite

  • ideally experienced with project management tools

We offer the possibility to organize your working hours flexibly and to work partially in home office by arrangement. A family room is currently being set up at the department for childcare emergencies, and a so-called Kidsbox with toys is already available.

The position is a project-based part-time position with 20 hours per week; intended classification depending on qualifications and personal requirements TV-L E12 / TV-L E13. Intended project duration: 4 years, extension possible depending on project. Hiring is scheduled to begin as soon as possible.
